I've been getting more into the Godox ecosystem for lighting and I recently picked up a new Godox AD200ProII to use with my X3 trigger and V1Pro speedlight. I was pretty happy with the speedlight and after reading about the AD200ProII I wanted to use that for some portrait sessions with multiple off-camera flashes. So as one does with technology anymore I found that there were some new firmware updates for all of my new Godox toys.
The Godox webpage has a lot of the firmware listed out pretty clearly, however I misread that there was a V1 flash as well as my V1Pro. Based on the spec sheets it seem the only difference between the two is that the V1Pro has a 2/10s of a second faster recycle time, approximately 20 more full power flashes and the front mounted sub light flash. I'm not doing a tear down on a perfectly working flash so I can only guess that there must be some difference inside, as when I incorrectly flashed the V1 firmware onto it and powered it back on I was greeted with an "E9 Firmware Error" message.
After finding that I used the wrong firmware, I found that the support page for the V1Pro didnt even have the Fujifilm firmware posted on it, only a pdf document and the Canon and Nikon versions. So I emailed the support address on their page requesting it, realizing afterwards that it was after 5PM on a Friday in their timezone. Come Sunday night for me, their Monday morning, they replied with the V1Pro F firmware attached and thankfully flashing that firmware brought my flash back to action. I do find it interesting that their devices will blindly accept any firmware sent to them from their updater tool, this might be interesting to explore how their firmware works and if it can be customized with some home brew types of firmware... anyway, if anyone else finds themselves in the same boat I've attached to this post the V1Pro F firmware that they sent me as it seems to still not be posted on their support page.
